‘Figure Queen’ Yuna Kim has announced that she will be competing at the next World Championships that will be held in Japan.

“I am planning to skip the Grand Prix series. The process of making my new programs will be carried out with the World Championships which will be held next year,” said Kim, who arrived at Inchon International Airport in the early hours of the 19th.

Korean figure skater Kwak Min-Jung arrived with Kim and was welcomed by many fans that were waiting at the airport.

Two months ago, when Kim left for her training grounds in Toronto, she expressed that she would like to continue skating competitively but did not mention the competitions that she planned to be participating in. Today, Kim announced that she will skip the Grand Prix series and participate at the World Championships. “Also along with the Grand Prix series, I will not be participating in the Winter Asian Games as well,” said Kim.

Kim will be performing at the ‘Samsung Anycall Hauzen 2010 All That Skate Summer’ from the 23rd to the 25th at the KINTEX center in Goyang city. “I am happy to be back in Korea after two months. It is a special feeling to perform in front of the fans after the ice show in April. I will do my best to prepare myself to show the audience a good performance,” said Kim.

Kim stated that each ice show was special because it gives her the chance to do new programs, and also meet new skaters. “I think that the preparations (for the show) will start tonight. However I presume that serious rehearsals can only start after all the skaters have come to Korea. A new gala program was choreographed in Toronto and will be performed at this ice show.”

“I haven’t started on my new programs (for the next season). I am planning to start the preparations once I return to Toronto. There are so many programs that I want to do, but I will choose after discussing with my coach and choreographer.”

“Personally I want to try a Spanish style program, either for the short or the long program,” Kim added.
“I will do my best to show everyone a great performance, to meet the audience’s high expectations,” said Kim. ‘Samsung Anycall Hauzen 2010 All That Skate Summer’ is being held, three months after the ‘2010 Festa on Ice’ ice show which was held in April.
